A studio collaboration in 1987 that released a #1 UK hit 12" single called Pump Up The Volume. The work was done by 4AD artists AR Kane and Colourbox working in seperate studios on the two tracks. The b-side "Anitina (The First Time I See She Dance)" used AR Kane for sheets of feedback drenched guitar while Colourbox supplied the monumental beats and heavy dub effects. The single is considered a significant milestone in the development of acid house music and sampling culture. It was a worldwide hit in dance clubs of the era. The success of Pump Up The Volume was enhanced due to a remix version released as a 7" single that had inclusions of uncleared samples. Amongst the elements were a Eric B. & Rakim sample,Public Enemy shouting "You're gonna get yours!", a bite of Criminal Element Orchestra's "Put The Needle to the Record", samples from The Bar-Kays' "Holy Ghost", and a speeded-up sample of Israeli singer Ofra Haza's "Im Nin'Alu". Eventually infringed upon producer's Stock Aitken & Waterman put the kabosh on the record through a court injunction, but by this time it was a widely bootlegged record & known worldwide.
