Biographie

Talking Heads est un groupe américain de rock, plus particulièrement de post-punk, ayant existé entre 1974 et 1991 et composé de David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth et Jerry Harrison. Ils jouaient dans les clubs de New York City, comme le CBGB’s. Le groupe signe en 1977 son premier album, Talking Heads 77. Sur l'album suivant, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Talking Heads s'associe au producteur Brian Eno. L'album allie instruments acoustiques et électroniques. Suivent les albums Fear of Music (1979) et Remain in Light (1980) qui regorgent d'électronique, de pop et de percussions africaines. Les membres du groupe vont ensuite privilégier leurs projets personnels. Ils sont de retour en 1983 avec Speaking in Tongues avant d'entamer leur dernière tournée. En 1985, Talking Heads sort un album davantage porté sur la pop : Little Creatures. Ils enregistrent par la suite True Stories dans lequel figurent des chansons du film éponyme de David Byrne. En 1988, ils entrent en studio pour leur dernier album : Naked. Trois ans plus tard, le groupe annonce sa séparation. En 1996, la formation se réunit mais sans David Byrne sous le nom de The Heads pour l'album No Talking Just Head.
