The Romantics
Biographie
Le groupe américain The ROMANTICS s'est formé à Détroit en 1977, le jour de la Saint Valentin, ce qui leur inspira ce nom. Il est composé, à l'origine, de: -Wally PALMAR (harmonica, guitare, chant) -Ric(hie) COLE (basse) -Mike SKILL (guitare, chant) -Jimmy MARINOS (batterie, chant) Après deux premiers SP sortis en 78, ils enregistrent en 80 leur 1er album "The Romantics" avec leur 1er succès "What I Like About You" et font une tournée en Europe et en Australie. Suivent les albums "National Breakout" (80) et "Strickly Personal" (81) avant de connaître la consécration en 83 avec leur 4e album "Heat" d'où sont extraits les SP "Talking In your Sleep" (83), très grand succès aux Etats-Unis comme en France, et "One In A Million" (84). Après le départ du batteur Jimmy Marinos,remplacé par Dave Petratos, ils sortent en 85 l'album "Rythm Romance" avec "Test Of Time". Après avoir gagné un procès long de 7 ans contre leur maison de disque, ils reviennent en 94 avec l' EP "Made In Detroit" et en 2003 avec l'album "61/49". Ils continuent à se produire en tournée avec Palmar et Skill, deux membres fondateurs, Coz Canler (guitare) et Brad Elvis (batteur). En 90 est sorti un album compilation "What I Like About You & other Romantics hits" et en 96 un album live "King Biscuit Flower Hour" reprenant un concert de 83 à San Antonio.
